I was asked to make an absolutely terrible orientation video for the feature “Good Grief Suicide Hotline” starring George Faughnan. The film is set in the mid 90’s but we decided to take the commercial back to V/H/S quality to make it exceptional bad. It’s actually very difficult to edit poorly.
itaki design studio was commissioned to do the visual effects for “The Signal”. Here are a few of the more interesting shots.
E-Motion Studies is the baby of the first collaboration between Psychopia Pictures and itaki design studio. We shot the whole thing with a Photron super high speed camera. Each shot was taken at 1000 frames per second. We assembled everything in After Effects. The music was done by a band called Twittering Machine. Each musician was shown the video and played alone while watching the video. Mike Wright then blended the audio together into the crazy jazz that backs the movie.
A day In The Life is itaki design studio and Psychopia Pictures second collaboration. This was created for a Dailies project in 2006 called “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band Dailies”. It was a show created by Brent Dey that featured short films based on the songs on the Beatles album of the same name. Dan Bush and Michael McReynolds chose the last song, “A Day In The Life”. It’s nature is both cheery and dark, and the song, as well as the movie, takes a wild turn halfway through.
I edited, did the visual effects, color and sound design for the movie.
We did all the visual effects including creating helicopters, birds, lightning and compositing everything together. The most interesting shot was the shot where they were in the split city with the curb separating the two different band set ups.
